Most Christians would be horrified to realize they have practiced witchcraft. Somehow we got the idea that witchcraft is people in dark robes, surrounded by candles and speaking incantations. Yes, this is definitely a part of witchcraft. The more dangerous form is the witchcraft that is hidden in our daily lives. It has become such a part of the fabric of the world, we do not even recognize how we are participating with it.
Scripture tells us that witchcraft is a work of the flesh, that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. If you researched the training of a witchdoctor, you would be surprised that the avenue to the highest form of witchcraft is actually hatred. Hatred opens our souls to demonic. Then, when we dwell on the object of that hatred, the demonic are then empowered to carry out our thoughts as a curse on that object. (Ecclesiastes 10:20 ESV Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king, nor in your bedroom curse the rich, for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter.) That is the simplest form of witchcraft.
Emotions and intent are what empower the darkness. Our negative emotions, if we dwell on them, can become a form of witchcraft. This is why scripture says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY thought to the obedience of Christ. If we want to pull down the strongholds in our lives and those around us, we must take our thoughts captive, be quick to forgive, and not co-operate with the demonic, even in our thought life. Every thought we think affects us and those around us. We will either be walking in the spirit or in the flesh at all times. When we walk in the flesh, the demonic are more than pleased to carry out our wishes.
In this world, the offenses WILL come. It is what we do with the offenses that determines our lives. We can take heart, Christ has overcome the world. We have a choice to forgive as we are forgiven, or dwell on the hurt until we are no longer operating in the Spirit of God, we are operating in the flesh and our negative emotions are used to empower the curses that demonic are waiting to carry out. Hatred empowers the enemy but love overcomes. Love remains. Love is the greatest of all. If we want to avoid participating in hidden witchcraft, we need to love..God, our neighbor, and ourselves. If we walk in the spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
