Financial curses can be generational curses.
Whatever your ancestors chose to do with their finances will directly impact your finances unless you bring it before the Lord.
If we go back far enough, in every family line we have prayed for there have been human or animal sacrifices and an exchange with the demonic for wealth, power, status, protection or health. When we renounce the sins of the generations, we also have to renounce the exchange that was given by the kingdom of darkness. The transaction is sealed by the exchange and it will remain in place until the iniquity AND the exchange are renounced.
A sample prayer to break the generational curse:
“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came in the flesh, on behalf of myself and my generations, I renounce and repent for all blood sacrifices of animals and humans in my bloodline. I repent for every exchange with demonic for status, power, health, protection or wealth. I repent for every unholy transaction of any kind. I disconnect my finances from my generations and I ask to be cleansed of these iniquities.”
You can bring a curse on yourself if you do not tithe.
Malachi 3:8-9
8“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
Some say it is Old Testament law and we are not under the law, but Paul says in
Romans 15:4 Whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction.
Abraham tithed to Melchizedek hundreds of years before the Law was given. He tithed and Melchizedek (both priest and king) blessed him. Tithing is a covenant transaction.
Tithing is our act of worship and obedience. It is a declaration to the enemy that we are in covenant with the Most High God.
When you tithe, the Lord will rebuke the devourer over your life.
Malachi 3:10-11
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts;
A curse can be passed down because of a former action with the currency. Money can be defiled by the transactions that take place.
Joshua 6:18-19
18 But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.
19 All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord and must go into his treasury.”
A sample prayer over your finances, whenever money comes to you:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came in the flesh, I place this money on the altar of the Most High God and I ask His fire to consume everything that is not of His kingdom.
If you are a minister receiving tithe you can add this to the prayer: I ask the blessing of Melchizedek on this person and their family.
